Erica DeMarch, a physical therapist with over 20 years of clinical expertise, is the founder of Step and Connect, a company dedicated to improving balance and reducing falls with innovative devices and educational programs. She invented the patented Balance Matters System to offer a fun, functional, and science-backed approach to train balance. Portable and affordable, it uses multi-sensory feedback and multi-modal training to maximize motor learning performance. Now, people effectively find the "just right" balance exercise dose to improve their balance and movement.
She has a passion for learning and teaching. She serves as an affiliate faculty member at South College Physical Therapy School. Erica edited the Parkinson’s chapter of the Pathology Textbook, 5th and 4th edition, Implications for the Physical Therapist. She has presented at multiple conferences and teaches continuing education courses globally on the importance of incorporating balance and motor learning into exercise programs. She participated in a pilot research study at Regis University studying the Use of Real-time Multimodal Sensory Feedback to Improve Backward Gait and Retention for People with Parkinson Disease and continues to collaborate with researchers for program development.
