You first met first-year teacher, Mr. Kyle Feather, back in Episode 120 when we got a chance to talk to him on the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! In this episode, Mr. Feather is back as we chronicle the life of a first-year teacher (after the first concert). This time, we talk about….
Update on his life in the classroom:
-The First concert October 3rd
-Picking literature for a NV (non-varsity) tenor bass choir and rehearsing new music for the winter concert
General things Mr. Feather has had on his mind:
-Building musical skills vs. retention and long-term investment in the students
-Establishing vertical alignment and supporting our feeder programs
-Establishing a brand new class (vocal jazz group) and how to market the ensemble as a recruiting tool for future students
-Redefining classroom norms and expectations after the first concert. Not fixing, but going from level 1 to level 2
