As you’re heading into the rush of concert season while also wrapping up this semester and starting to think about January, this episode is perfect! Meet loop pedal violist, composer, and educator Kathryn Patricia Cobbler. Hailing from Canada’s Capital region, Cobbler has crafted a singular niche in improvisation and classical performance. She obsesses over creating uniquely arresting soundscapes, whether in solo recitals, composing for theatre, performing at art installations, and more.

For Cobbler, “performing music is painting with sound.” Her goal, especially in her variety of interactive concerts and workshops, is to “inspire audiences to be able to dive into their own life stories and explore the realm of creativity.”

In this episode, we talk about the role of the Arts in the classroom, how experiencing music as a class/school/community spaces helps to grow empathy and community connection, tips for working on your improvisatory skills, and ultimately how to craftily use the lens of storytelling in your space.
