OUR GUESTS BIO Recognized nationally as one of America's leading designers, David Stravitz has been awarded numerous mechanical and design patents, copyrights and trademarks. Mr. Stravitz has designed, invented and developed a wide variety of consumer products -- audio, video and photographic accessories, crafting devices, hardware, stationary storage, waste management, and the list goes on… His client list over the past thirty years reads like a "Who's Who" in American business.
His intellectual properties include over 150 awarded and pending patents. In 1999, he sold the molded plastic consumer office products molded plastics division of his company, SBS Industries, Inc. to Newell Rubbermaid, and the RTA furniture division was sold to a conglomerate in 2000. Mr. Stravitz’s latest series of inventions have resulted in the introduction of new and improved waste receptacles for medical, consumer and adult incontinence including baby diapers (14 awarded and pending patents). These devices include unique waste containment pails for the medical bio-hazard (red bag) and health care industry. While Mr. Stravitz’ is devoted to his latest design ventures, he still makes time for his consuming passion for photography. He often photographs in and about New York; subjects include candid shots of the homeless, graphic individuals, and architectural elements. His broad interest in photography led him to the discovery of 500 8×10 negatives of old New York from 1910 to 1948, including more than 150 images of the day-by-day construction of the Chrysler Building. He has authored two books resulting from this discovery: “The Chrysler Building, Creating an Icon Day by Day” (Princeton Architectural Press-2002) and “New York, Empire City 1920-1945” (Harry N. Abrams 2004).
