With one ruling elder on board (Or is it two?), the guys decide to show some love to those who hold this important office of the church. They discuss how to develop and encourage men who serve the flock of God in this position.

The 3GTers begin by defining Biblically what a ruling elder is, and how this position is distinct from a teaching elder, i.e. the pastor. From there, they converse about ways to develop men for this role and the real practical things to look for when considering a man’s qualifications for the eldership. As the Book of Hebrews reminds us that we are to “obey your leaders and submit to them,” the guys then move into specific ways both pastors and congregations can honor those who serve in this position.
