Scripture Gem: "Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me'.'" ~ Matthew 16:24
This passage in Matthew 16:24 holds wisdom as simple as ABC on how to make good decisions in all areas of your life. This scripture gem shows us that we must A. desire, B. deny, and C. follow God every day to enjoy abundant success.
A. Desire
Good decision making starts with a desire. This practically looks like making a deliberate and intelligent choice to follow God's intended design for decision making, which looks like God, me, then you. We must desire at every moment to look for God's best-offer in every situation.
Reflection: When I am making a decision, who do I initially seek for help?
Everyday Wisdom: So, when making a decision I will: DESIRE God's best-offer by choosing to go to God first.
B. Deny
Good decision making is formed in humility. We humbly lose sight of our interests and take up the Holy Spirit's leading. This practically looks like asking God: which option or solution is the best? Don't forget to listen for an answer.
Reflection: Sometimes decisions need to be in a split-second. What steps can you take now that will remind you to process your decisions with the help of the Holy Spirit?
Everyday Wisdom: So, choose to: DENY our opinions for God's truth!
C. Follow
Abundant success calls for us to imitate Christ example of radical obedience. In our obedience to the Holy Spirit's leading, it will bring the rewards of success to our lives.
Reflection: What is my biggest barrier to radical obedience? Who can I ask to be my accountability partner, to check-in with me and pray for me as I seek to walk in radical obedience?
Everyday Wisdom: So, every day: FOLLOW the Holy Spirit's leading by obeying God's voice!
Put these steps into practice every day, and you will make good decisions that lead to experiencing God's abundant success for your life.
