Consider this, most controversial topics are introduced in childhood: space travel, Earth’s age, evolution, the Big Bang, and dinosaurs. These narratives are reinforced by imagery lifelong beliefs. As Dr. Charla W. Mayo wrote in The Rape of the Mind, modern brainwashing is subtle, prolonged, and designed to distort values until victims willingly embrace fiction. Willa Appel noted that people censor even their own thoughts, and Eric Hoffer observed that doctrines thrive not by meaning but by certainty.
Propaganda predates WWII. Early literature served as indoctrination, classics like the works by Twain and Poe shaped cultural norms. World Fairs promoted new technologies and worldviews. By the late 1800s, elites (robber barons) seized control of education, medicine, government, finance, media, entertainment, and social movements. These tools of control persist today; nearly every aspect of life is propagandized.
