The health of your water is very important and all homeowners should keep their finger on this pulse. The standard water test performed by many home inspectors is E. coli and Coliform bacteria (total coliform). Even the government requires more stringent testing than that. We recommend at minimum a homeowner test for total coliform along with nitrates, nitrites, lead, and arsenic. Specialty testing may be needed depending on your surroundings such as Cryptosporidium, pharmaceuticals & narcotics, pesticides, radiation, VOCs, etc. Knowing what to do when there is an unhealthy reading is also important. Make sure whoever is performing your testing is equipped to offer action steps. We certainly are.
