In the November 2 issue of JAMA (the Journal of the American Medical Association - the reference is below) Dr. Bruce Miller, a physician at UCSF who specializes in dementia related illnesses, noted that the cognitive processing pathways and reactions of someone who is expressing anti-science conspiracy theories look a lot like some of the cognitive processing problems that we see in dementia.
