In October of 1968, something strange unfolded around Minot Air Force Base. Ground crews near nuclear missile sites reported lights that didn’t behave like aircraft. A maintenance team described an object pacing their truck along rural roads. A B-52 returning to base picked up a radar contact that appeared to move with the aircraft, followed by a brief communications disruption.

Then a missile site alarm went off.

At Oscar-7, security found a gate open and a lock disturbed. No damage. No tracks. No clear explanation. The Air Force later said the alarm wasn’t connected to the sightings and closed the case through Project Blue Book with conventional explanations.

But that isn’t where the story ends.
