Thoughts from your host…
We’ve reached a little bit of a gap in the schedule where film release dates are concerned. A bit of a breather in between the blockbusters of American Thanksgiving and the arty and intellectual offerings that arrive at year-end. It’s too late to discuss something like CREED, and too early to discuss something like CAROL. As such, we find ourselves looking around for a topic of conversation, and for the first time in this show’s history – we look to Netflix.
As my guest brings up, this gives me a bit of a dose of bitter medicine. I have become so spoiled in being able to find anything I want to watch in a theatrical environment. I live in Movie going Xanadu where not only does every new release get the big screen treatment, but so too do many of the classics.
So looking to an on-demand service to ferry us from fall to winter feels strange, but also gives me a clear understanding of how so many movies are consumed.
Can’t say I was a huge fan of the experience, but that will come up on the show.
Links Mentioned During The Show:
Amir Soltani’s relationship with the films of Jafar Panahi
