What you’re about to see on October 14, 2023 is not the moon; it is it’s Brother what I call the black moon and it is non-reflective. It is totally light absorbent an opaque the white moon cannot do this trick because it is translucent generating  on light from within. 
If the white moon cannot even cover up the blue sky at midday on those rare occasions where it is visible, how in the whirled can it block out the brilliant sun.
