She has also worked on several comic books, including a two-year run on the Swamp Thing series and a notable first as the first woman writer working on the Vampirella comic series. She is a recipient of the Bram Stoker Award and the British Fantasy Award, and is best known for her groundbreaking series Sonja Blue, which heralded the rise of the popular urban fantasy genre.
