In this episode of the Hybrid Cloud Forecast series, Andre talks to Maja Vukovic, IBM Fellow, AI for Application Modernization. Andre and Maja discuss if the meaning of an application being cloud native only means it has microservices or if a minimum functional computational unit upon which the application is built has to be defined. Maja talks about using AI for code to understand the applications and help customers "untangle" their code and help them decide which parts of the application to refactor. Maja talks about application modernization in two parts - technology and development process modernization - to culturally shift the organization to the devops model. They discuss how AI can be used to measure the quality of the resulting microservices after an application re-write to convert a monolith to microservices. Maja talks about using AI to enable rapid containerization and code refactoring.
