For this episode of 4 Ever Paranormal, the team takes us to Houska Castle, built in the medieval ages isolated from the rest of the world for reasons beyond ordinary understanding. Instead of looking at hauntings or ghosts, we try to analyze why it was built directly over what might be considered not just an ordinary pit, learn about folklore that described creatures coming out of it, and consider what those stories say about ancient beliefs concerning thresholds and containment. We separate documented history from legend by examining why incomplete and distorted beings appear so often in boundary folklore and address later speculation surrounding Nazi interest in the site without blurring fact and fiction. Houska isn’t a story about invasion or escape, but about something unfinished, something pressing upward, and why some places were built not to defend against enemies but to manage what lay beneath.
