Episode 16: Carriacou Leone

Listen Later

In this episode of Parrotbeetie, Raafeke takes us out of the West Indies and across the Atlanta to Sierra Leone with facts about the country's history and culture. He then goes into detail about the Temne people, an ethnic group in Africa that has continued to thrive in Carriacou as part of the Big Drum Dance, making Carriacou's Temne nation the only clear remnant of Temne culture in the Caribbean to this day. The episode is then concluded with a recording and breakdown of the BDD song, Temne Woman, and the short story, Carriacou Leone, written and narrated by the host.
