In this episode we speak with ex-Australian Defence Force Soldier, Paul Warren, as he gives insight into life as an amputee. The once Australian Muay Thai Kick-Boxing Champion lost his leg to an IED explosion whilst on patrol in Afghanistan in 2009. The explosion not only claimed his leg, it also killed a fellow soldier and mate who was just metres away.
After being told by one doctor that running was not going to be an option, Paul wasn't settling for that story and found a genius doctor that got him sprinting. His never say never attitude found him competing at the Invictus Games, and captain team Australia!
Paul struggled with grief and guilt around the loss of his mate, was diagnosed with PTSD, and experienced an accidental overdose from prescription medication.
Paul’s story is one of courage and determination that you will most definitely draw inspiration from.
