BREAKING PEWS
Marvel released the second trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy last Monday.
Watch Dogs releases this Tuesday on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
THE STACK
MPH, Image Comics
Mark Millar (W), Duncan Fegredo (A)
Roscoe is a small-time drug dealer, but a good kid at heart who has great ambitions of becoming rich and working a clean job. He ends up landing in jail as his former employer sets him up. In prison, a street drug called MPH filters in, giving Roscoe the power of super speed. Very similar to Quicksilver’s scene in the new X-Men movie, Roscoe escapes prison, intent on bringing his old boss to justice.
The Good: Writer of Kick-Ass and the artist of Hellboy. How could you go wrong? After watching X-Men, I wanna see some more super speed stories, but don’t really feel like diving into The Flash this late into the game. This solves that thirst.
The Bad: There’s another superhero introduced early on who presumedly took NPH as well, but it was back in the late 80s. He comes up again towards the end, but it’s not very clear what they’re trying to insinuate.
FINAL RATING: 4 PEWS
WARP ZONE
The Wolf Among Us, Telltale Games
Episode 1 free for the month of May on iOS
The Wolf Among Us is a five episode series based on Fables (DC Comics/Vertigo), an award-winning comic book series by Bill Willingham. It is a violent, hard-boiled thriller where the characters and creatures of myth, lore, and legend are real and exist in our world. Your choices matter and will change and define the story you experience.
GOOD: Engaging story, characters have different sides to them (not two dimensional). Artwork is awesome, cell style shading. Once you complete the episode, they show you a preview of things to come that have to do with the actions you made.
BAD: Don’t think of this as a video game, it’s more like a choose your own story video. (aka just a long cutscene). They don’t release the whole game at once, so far episode 3 is out but we’re missing 4 and 5. Not enough time to make selections at times.
FINAL RATING: 4 PEWS
KEEPIN’ IT REEL
X-Men: Days of Future Past, Marvel Studios
Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence
The X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants.
GOOD: Main character development was great, acting was well done. Fight scene’s were intelligent. Good callback to First Class.
BAD: Not enough cool powers BUT not enough to turn away from the movie.
FINAL RATING: 5 PEWS
