The body of Jesus was buried in a tomb. Pilate placed a Roman guard at Jesus's tomb to prevent his disciples from stealing his body. On the 3rd day an Angel appeared to the women visiting Jesus's tomb telling them Jesus rose from the dead as he said he would. Jesus's tomb was empty. As the women were running to thell the disciples the news, the risen Jesus appeared to the women. The tomb guards reported to the Pharisees about the appearance of the angel and Jesus was gone. The Pharisees paid off the tomb guards to say the apostles stole Jesus's body while the guards fell asleep. The risen Jesus gave the disciples the Great Commission. End of the Book of Matthew.
