Lets hear the rest of the story! Join us for Part 1 and 2 of our interview with Dr. Brierley.ย
Meet Dr. Yann Brierley: pathologist ๐งฌ, compassionate leader โค๏ธ, devoted mentor ๐จโ๐ซ, and steadfast advocate for kindness in medicine ๐ค. As Chief of Staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital ๐ฅ and the driving force behind the "Civility Matters" initiative ๐, he is dedicated to fostering a culture where respect, collaboration, and humanity shape every interaction and decision.
During his residency in General Pathology at the University of Alberta ๐ซ, Dr. Brierley spent a transformative four-week elective at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. After achieving his Royal College certification ๐, he returned, not just as a physician but as a husband ๐, a father to a 10-week-old daughter ๐ถ, and a man ready to plant deep roots in a community he knew he could serve wholeheartedly.
Today, with four children ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ, a home full of love (and various animals) ๐พ, and a thriving career, Dr. Brierley continues to give himself fully to his family, colleagues, and patients. As a Director on the VJH Physician Society and Medical Staff Association Board, he is a voice for those around him, always striving to lift others up. In moments between his demanding work, he finds solace and joy in the wild beauty of natureโskiing through fresh mountain air ๐ฟ, camping under the stars โบ, backpacking through rugged landscapes ๐, and cycling open roads ๐ด.
At his core, Dr. Brierley believes in the power of connection ๐, the strength of kindness ๐ช, and the deep responsibility of healingโnot just through medicine, but through the way we treat one another. He leads not only with knowledge and skill but with an open heart, proving every day that civility, compassion, and courage have the power to transform the world around us.
