Chief Buchanan got his start in 1982 and retired as an Assistant Chief with Hanover Fire & EMS in Richmond, Virginia. He's a past President of the International Society of Fire Service Instructors, recipient of the George D. Post, Instructor of the Year Award, plus has served on a range of technical committees.

Buchanan now hosts the new “Fire Service Data & Tech Talk” Podcast for Fire Engineering, and currently works as the Business Development Manager for Deccan International.
