Today I sit down with a previous client of mine, Haley. She shares the very real story of sleep deprivation and how it impacted her feelings towards motherhood and her baby.
Jumping into the world of parenthood is a challenge for all of us. Its stressful, its challenging and can make you feel ill-equipped, especially if you have a baby or child that doesn't sleep well. Sleep deprivation is real and there is a reason that it is used a form of punishment in war prison camps. It is absolutely brutal and debilitating. The link between sleep and mood has been studied for years by researchers and doctors. People with poor sleep have a higher risk for anxiety and depression. Postpartum depression is much worse if you are not sleeping. I know when our daughter was a baby I wasn't sleeping and I struggled. If this is how you feel, know that you are not alone, there is help out there.
Below is a link to a free quiz. Its OK to admit you are struggling and its OK to get help.
