Episode 17: A Prayer for Advent
In this prayer series Sumer will be sharing different prayers that she turns to when she doesn't have prayers of her own. Today's episode will feature a prayer that has been adapted from an Affirmation of Faith for Advent from a local Episcopal church. A Prayer for Advent
O God, You are God,
who bends and kneels toward our world,
drenching it in love,
and making it new with every breath.
O Jesus, You are God become human,
and you have brought every person
a spark of the divine.
O Spirit, hovering God,
you are present among us,
abiding, upholding and awaking
all things to God's grace.
May we be a people who do justice,
love kindness and walk humbly with you, God,
and with each other.
May we be ready for Your reign,
awake and alert as we work now
to bring Your kingdom near.
As Christmas comes close
may we lift up our hearts in hope and in love
seeing Your coming in each moment and person,
each challenge and heartache,
each blessing and joy.
May it be so O, Lord.
Keep us faithful, Lord Jesus, and come soon.

A Prayer for Advent
O God, You are God,
