From the humble beginnings of a home garage in 1972, with a pool table as its production base, Alpine Awards & Imprinted Sportswear Inc.  has mushroomed into an industry leader with 4 showrooms located through out the bay area.

I got to have a candid talk with the President of this family based business, Greg Vella, and his lead Sales Manager, Vicki Lake,  about how Alpine Awards just keeps growing and why so many customers keep coming back.

Greg Vella has followed in his father’s footsteps.  Greg’s parents Ron and Kathleen Vella founded this company 45 years ago.  He has taken leaps of his own building the company into a one stop customization shop. This Father, Husband, Coach, and Company President understands the needs of his customers because he is one of them. His passion and drive to have the best product comes down to one thing,

“It’s not a uniform, it’s a person. It’s not just one trophy misspelled, it’s a disappointed kid.” 

 

 

Vicki Lake came in 16 years ago to get banners for a campaign and ended up becoming a lead sales manager, helping to outfit entire little leagues. Her background was in corporate accounts but her passion has always been the creativity that comes with the custom industry. Her path to success and fulfillment in her work is simple, as she puts it when I asked her for her best advice,

“…you have to care”, and”… you have to work hard.”

In my interview with Vicki I got to know this long Union City resident and hear how her creativity and drive for perfection makes her so perfect for this job.  Our little league kiddos are in good hands with Vicki.
