In this two-episode special, Natasha Taylor explores a new assessment project which has been delivered for the first time the semester in the School of Engineering. First-year students of Engineering Design and Communication work together in groups to research, design, 3D print and ultimately race drag cars – the aim is to teach them the skills and processes of computer-aided product design by immersing them in it. The project incorporates group learning, agile/design thinking methodologies, maker based pedagogy and peer assessment.
