I don't give compliments because I want to mean it when I say it. I try to avoid flattery. But when I really mean it, I rarely say it, because I'm not used to giving it. The moment has passed. It's a Catch-22 situation. 
Or maybe because I don't want to be misunderstood. Some might misconstrue it as flirting, maybe? I don't really know. Maybe I'm just making excuses.
