Welcome to the Things That Shape Us podcast. My name is Jonathan Wymer and I'm joined by James Gary to discuss a various range of subjects that are all related to one idea: How those things shape our lives.

In this episode, James and I discuss a couple of things that shaped us and have continued to shape us. It's a late-night recording session for us old salts, so we start off with tackling the broad subject of social media and the effects of the internet on our relationships and daily lives, including how we perceive our own reality. Then, I tie the first part of our conversation to a book that greatly inspired and encouraged me through the years: The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. It's a fantasy novel that has popped up at the best and worst times of my life and gave me a new way of looking at my childhood and the effects of a developing mind.
