A pandemic becomes an endemic when it becomes normal, expected. An assumed part of life.

We've entered a phase where we normalize and live with COVID. Infections haven't gone away. We're just more lackadaisical about it.

This is a grim lesson in formation. Exposure begets familiarity. Familiarity begets normalization. And so it is that we get increasingly comfortable with an avoidable situation.
