"Escape from Mogadishu" is a movie that is based on real-life events that took place in 1991. In 1991, South Korea and North Korea were lobbying UN General Assembly member states to vote for their respective bids to be accepted as UN member states. One of those countries that the two Korean governments lobbied was Somalia in the same year when Somalia was about to be engulfed in a vicious sectarian civil war. As conflict breaks out, the two Korean groups work together to escape from Mogadishu.
