Why Does The US Want to Put a Nuclear Reactor on The Moon
Headline digital edition 08/08/20-25
Answer to prank This Week Magazine!
Our nuclear generating plants are giant tea kettles; they produce steam to drive electric generators.
No combustion of any kind can be supported on the moon.
Of course, on the moon, lead shielding would not be required, but water & oxygen would be, and the moon has no atmosphere.
A “packaged” nuclear reactor would come with these instructions: “Some assembly required”.
The question remains is not how, but why would anyone think such a thing might be possible? Or even desirable for that matter.
It must be one of those recurring chestnuts associated with the Dog Days of August.
