The word of the day heard on Clay & Buck is 'gerrymander,' and I imagine that a visit to the nearest dictionary will produce a surprise. It’s - G - not - J -., and it’s a fine old political custom originating in that famously “liberal” bastion of Massachusetts.
My Webster's (New Collegiate edition, ©1981, p/475 tells me the word originated during the term of Governor Gerry. (19th century). The Boston “Brahmans” wanted to consolidate their power statewide against those upstart Irish, flooding the state.
