In this Episode, we are joined by a wonderful woman: Hi’ilani Shibata who will be sharing about her connection with (Mahina) and how it impacts her.
Hi'ilani is one of the founders of the Kamahina Project and we cannot wait to dive deep into this topic with her!
Hi’ilani is a lifelong learner, she spent the last 20 years in the field of education, both formal and informal. Born and raised in Hilo, Hawai’i, she moved to the island of Oʻahu to attend the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa where she graduated with a BA in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi. Today she does contract work as a Hawaiian Culture trainer and consultant, co-founder of Ka Mahina Project and with her small ʻohana mālama ʻāina in Waiāhole, and she is a mother of four keiki.
Aljolynn Sperber Founder of Lady Box (https://joinladybox.com/) and Alyx Coble-Frakes Founder of The Agenda. (https://www.theagendaperiod.com/) Are combining forces to help Women and Menstruators #ShedTheShame.
Each day there are an estimated 800 million folks experiencing menstruation- so it should be something we can talk about openly and freely.
Aljolynn conceptualized this campaign as a way to donate to WaterAid (check out the campaign -http://shedtheshame.co ) and this podcast is a way to further amplify the message.
