This episode Phi and Jess Navigate Parole with ratchet revolutionary Andre Apparicio. Andre Apparicio is a community organizer with many years of experience working with the second chance population. Andre has most notably assisted hundreds of justice involved individuals to gain meaningful employment and guided them to pursue educational opportunities. Formerly incarcerated himself, Andre shifted his energy from that of a negative to a positive force. In 2017, he started a non-profit to help the justice involved be better prepared to adjust to life outside of prison. Mr. Apparicio received a certification as a “Credible Messenger”. Using the “Credible Messenger” model, he informs organizations and individuals about the many opportunities and challenges associated with the justice involved population. Andre excels at motivating and empowering individuals to be their best selves through education and skill building. Mr. Apparicio previously worked as a Parole Coordinator and Liaison and is a credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor and Certified Recovery Coach. Andre is a member of the NAACP, Mentor for Child Center of New York Boys Group in a local Junior high school and volunteer for the N.Y.S. Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. Andre has received numerous awards for the work he does nationwide to support the formerly incarcerated. Andre is now the Program Manager of the Office of Second Chance Employment which helps criminally justice involved individuals have opportunities of employment in 3 separate airports.
