Wow - a lot has changed in a week. Our country went from discussing the shock of mayhem in our capital to witnessing a peaceful transition of power on those same steps. We were a part of history by witness the swearing in of the first Woman AND first African American AND first Asian Vice-President of our country. Just like most women, Kamala wasn’t satisfied with being just one first! We love Kamala’s mantra, “I may be the first, but I’d better not be the last!”. YAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND is a key word in today’s discussion - women tend to be, by necessity or choice driven to AND a lot, if we can use AND as a verb. ANDing can drive our perfectionistic tendencies AND stress AND burnout . . . especially by continually attempting to live within the narrow bandwidth of expectation our cultures and milieus we find ourselves living in create for us. From a different perspective, Liz describes how AND can also help us receive constructive criticism which we all need in order to effectively transform and improve ourselves, yet find it so very difficult to accept as a gift. We often find feedback downright hurtful, even from those we love and trust. . . what is wrong with us??? The AND perspective to effectively receive feedback may help you today. If you watch nothing else, fast forward our video to the last 5 seconds. Remember our discussion last time about mama issues and being in the sandwich? Today you can witness a precious real-life example - we are all in this together!
