Episode 18: The Castel or Castiel Family – The Return to Calatayud in 2018
In this episode we pay tribute to the Castel or Castiel family, a medieval Jewish lineage from Calatayud already documented in the 15th century with figures such as Açach Alcastiel (1456). Their story is intertwined with the memory of the Bilbilitan aljama and the long journey of Sephardic exile.
In 2018, the descendants of this lineage, led by Adi Castel, returned to Calatayud in a moving encounter with the city of their ancestors. Photographs, documents and testimonies bring to life this episode filled with memory, identity, and return.
