Gary Simonds is a brain surgeon who has cared for tens of thousands of critically ill patients. He started his career in the Army at Walter Reed and was the Chief of Neurosurgery at a University Hospital for many years.

Gary now teaches a number of subjects to undergraduates and medical students at Virginia Tech. He has written three non-fiction books on burnout and wellness and has recently published a medical/psychological thriller with a paranormal twist entitled, Death's Pale Flag.

Gary also writes blog posts for Psychology Today Online, and has three more novels in progress. In addition to teaching and writing he enjoys hiking in the mountains of North Carolina, walking his border collie, Hamish, and playing the guitar and banjo. He intends to teach himself the bagpipes next.
