We do not have to lose the relationship we have with our kids as they get older. We do, however, need to let go of the idea that we get to control their world.  I know this is a difficult idea to accept. This reality is a piece of what makes parenting older kids so dang hard. 

You have a new role. A role that allows you to influence your child and build a stronger relationship in the process.
