Upon further consideration, I think I disagree with the entire premise of this comic strip. Look at Garfield and Odie in that first panel. Do they look like they are playing to you? I mean sure, they're definitely enjoying themselves, but look at what they're actually doing. They're just vibrating rapidly in place. That's NOT how playing is accomplished. And look at the way those motion lines are positioned! They CLEARLY imply motion along the horizontal axis ONLY, suggesting that Garfield and Odie are in fact just hovering in mid-air, vigorously shaking back and forth at a fantastic frequency. These fuckers aren't playing, they're exhibiting Brownian motion. Frankly this raises more questions than it answers, and I look forward to Jim Davis answering them in tomorrow's strip.
