Carley Billups is a pediatric occupational therapist who has lived and worked in Prince George over the past 12 years.

Carley has seen first-hand the struggles that Prince George families face in order to get funding for important medical equipment and services that support their ability to participate in daily life and she wants to help.

Carley plans to run 1,000km over 13 weeks starting on December 21, 2023 in the Winter Running Challenge to raise funds for kids with disabilities in Prince George and Northern British Columbia.

This will mean Carley will face many snowy, dark, lonely and cold runs during the most challenging running conditions of the year! Carley choose to do this in the winter because she knows that doing hard things is something children with disabilities and their families experience every single day.

While government and extended health funding helps, often families are left trying to find thousands of dollars by themselves to pay for equipment and therapy services that are essential to quality of life, participation, and overall health of the child.

Variety BC is one funding source that I know helps families with top-up funding for medical equipment. They have ensured Carley that the funds she raises in this challenge will go directly to children and families in Northern BC!

Carley’s goal is to fundraise $10,000 for Variety BC to make it easier for Northern BC kids to receive assistance with their equipment needs.
