Emma Macalister Hall runs the family estate at Torrisdale on the Kintyre Peninsula alongside her husband Niall, and is a director of Beinn an Tuirc Distillers, where they make the award winning Kintyre Gin and other spirits. 

Join us as Emma shares her journey from Edinburgh to embracing the family legacy at Kintyre, including the challenges of living and working in a remote area, the opportunities they have capitalised on, and the pressures of being the current custodians of Torrisdale Castle. From buckets catching the drips in the roof space, to TV appearances with the likes of Nish Kumar and Josh Widdicombe, and even a police manhunt, life for Emma is never boring! 

Emma shares the importance of being involved with the local community, and the role they play in putting Kintyre on the map as a destination for slow tourism.  We also talk about the power of partnerships and people, and Emma’s daughters being the next generation of rural women in Scotland.
