What You NEED To Know Before Hiring A Photographer
On meeting Kenneth Embalsado he is warm and engaging. I can see why so many of his clients describe how he makes photo shoots seem easy. There is a level of care and attention to detail that is very obvious when you view his work.
Kenneth is a pro. He is an award winning, world class, photographer. Also a committed family man and serial entrepreneur.
Getting to know Kenneth, his philosophies, his values, was truly a pleasure. We discuss many things, not just photography, but business and life. Still, I know our listeners what to know:
What is the secret to taking great portraits of kids?!
And… What does everyone need to know before hiring a photographer?
We answer those questions and more in our interview. Kenneth has taken some phenomenal photos. Weddings, portraits, professional athletes – amazing transformations. Kenneth shares his story with us. Before his family settled down in Santa Clara, Kenneth credits growing up a Navy kid and moving around a lot for exposing him constantly to new people. Building his social skills and the ability to connect with new people easily.
It’s a crucial skill for a photographer. The ability to connect with the person on the other side of the lens and capture a moment of pure emotion.
Prior to photography, Kenneth worked in the Tech Industry as Network Systems Architect. Later he worked in the Real Estate and Mortgage Industry. Today, as a survivor of two major industry bubbles his business advice is sound.
“A common mistake people make is self discipline and goal setting. You have to break down (goals) into small tasks. And don’t let one day go by without completing at least one.”
He is a loving husband, a loving father of his three children, boys 20 and 16, and his baby girl who is 15. When he speaks of his wife and family his happiness is all over his face. I think his love for his own family is what guides in helping his customers capture their own love on film.
When I asked Kenneth for his advice for our listeners. He said,
“Wake up and be happy. Be alive.”
“I’m giving myself the opportunity to enjoy what’s around me. Then when I’m shooting away I’m able to capture pure emotion. Like a Bride dancing with her Father at her wedding. Then when I deliver the final product, they are brought back to that moment and for them all the feelings come back.”
