When your focus of attention is all on your child's behavior, you can overlook so much and miss the opportunity to be able to guide, help and support your child through whatever it is they are going through. Why is this? It is only by first focusing on yourself, and being attuned to how you are showing up, and knowing how you can control your own behavior in response to your child's that you might be able to tame your reactivity and therefore respond in a way that allows you to meet your child's needs.
