Linguistics as a field is one that is easy to misunderstand, therefore there are quite a number of misconceptions about it. Over time, I've come to realise that Linguists really desire to share their world with non-linguists, but a lot of 'interesting' ideas and beliefs about the field, and linguists get in the way.

In this episode, I talk about just 8 'interesting' things that people believe about linguistics and what is actually true of these beliefs.
