In which we discuss a little bit of wine mapping and a lot of celebrating a good outcome from Jake's recent brush with the law.
The book mentioned is Vintage (not wine!) Crime: A short history of wine fraud (2023) by Rebecca Gibb MW. It is a cracking book full of great yarns, so if you buy just one wine book this year - this would be a gereat choice. Available from your favourite physical and online bookseller.
This week we had only one celebratory wine - a Grower Champagne and a Premier Cru - Platine by the incredible Nicolas Maillart. Don't be fooled by the NM on the bottle - all of the land is owned by Nicholas' family and it is all managed and exclusively bottled by him. It is available to drink by the bottle at Noori Wine Bar and imported by East End Cellars in Adelaide so might be available there.
Sound quality is better again - still more improvements to come.
