I've provided an audio intro to this short clip. I continue to receive calls from a call centre somewhere in India claiming to be from "Windows Support". After asking them questions to verify their legitimacy, it is clear that these calls are a scam. For example, they claim to want to help me clear out malicious software that I have downloaded onto my PC, but then need to verify if I actually own a PC. When I've asked to speak with a Supervisor, I get hung up on.
I've received about a half-dozen of these calls in the last year. Initially, I pushed back to get info and got hung up on. Then, I started just cussing out the person who called me, and got hung up on again. However, the calls continued, so I finally decided I'd just have fun with these people. Last week, I managed to irritate a guy to the point where he called me a 'motherfucker' and hung up on me. I was very disappointed that I didn't record the call. However, I got another call today and did manage to get a recording! The sound quality isn't great, especially with the person who has called me, because it is just my iPhone on speaker into the computer mic, but I think it's still clear enough to understand what is going on with the call.
Keep in mind that this is not me calling someone for help and acting like a prick, and this isn't a legitimate call that has come my way where I am also acting like a prick; this is a clear scam. I have asked other people if they've received similar calls, and have found out that they are quite common.
Anyway, the clip is about 11 minutes long, with a short intro. I hope you enjoy it!
