The market still has so much potential - 6% growth in GDP per annum last year alone and so much growth to be had with 50% of its population still rural inhabitants. They are still yet to benefit from Chinas growing economy and there are still more people to be raised into the middle class.

We also talk about the new Ecommerce law from January this year which regulates ecommerce across border.

China is leading the way with AI - Businesses can target customers based on the social credit rating system (Obviously ilegal in most countries) - They can segment products and services to maximise sales and profits.

Whittard of Chelsea's success is because they capitalised on TMALL and had a measured long term plan and didn't rush in.

Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong were the places to set up however places like Shenzen are now of interest, based just outside of Hong Kong and the richest city in China and Silicon Valley of China its no surprise why this location is becoming a great location for outside businesses to be based. Also Guangazhou based near the coast where brands can keep an eye on logistics and supply.

Steven also talks aboutTrumps trade war and how Chinese consumers are tightening their belts and turning to other brands and skip the US. Flight bookings are down 42% to the US and Chinese Tourists are looking elsewhere. Thats why UK Businesses should take advantage of this particularly in the Golden week of October.
