Episode 2: Mommy Judging

Listen Later

Welcome back, friends! We’re excited to bring you another episode of the podcast today. Have a listen to two instances from Taten and Trawick when they were Mommy Judged. *Trawick was having a few technical issues with her Skype call, so the sound is a little off on this episode.
Taten’s story is of an incident that happened in Chick-fil-A. An on-looking mother that Taten did not know had negative and nasty comments about Taten’s children in the play area.Trawick’s had a bit of a Dance Moms situation on her hands. A passive aggressive mother took issue with Trawick’s daughter while observing a gymnastics class that both of their children were in.
We also discuss the glamorization of the failures of motherhood. Do we have to share that with the world on social media? Or do we just need the attention from people to give us a pat on the back telling us that we’re doing a good job? Elizabeth shares about how the pressure parents feel to give their children constant attention carries over into the classroom. When children are given constant attention at home, it’s hard for them to adjust to the classroom environment of one adult to twenty students. Constant and direct attention to one child all day long is not possible. So stressing over giving children so much attention at home shouldn’t be so stressful. Ease up on yourselves, mamas. They will be okay!We discuss issues and ways of parenting that we adhere to and those that we aren’t participating in.
Has mommy shaming ever happened to you? And why is this a thing? We should all be in this together. Tell us what you think about this issue and about the podcast. We’d love to chat about it with you!
