Tending To My Roots

Episode 2: Processing Community Crisis & The Power of Guided Journaling

Listen Later

In this episode of Tending To My Roots, I’m peeling back the curtain on what it means to find a "flourishing life" when the world outside feels incredibly heavy. I’m sharing a raw and honest look at how recent community crises - including the I.C.E. murders in Minnesota and the increased militarization here in DC - are impacting my mental health.

When life feels out of control, how do we keep from bottling it all up? For me, the answer is coming back to the "Complete three 30-day guided journals" square on my 2026 Bingo card. I talk about why I’ve historically struggled with the "blank page," my love for CBT-based structure, and the three specific journals I’m using as anchors:

  • Be Your Own Valentine (Self-Love)
  • 30 Days To My True Self (Self-Discovery)
  • Still Thinking About It (Neurodivergent-friendly journaling from Neurospicy & Co.)

Whether you are navigating anxiety, ADHD, or just the weight of the current news cycle, this episode is a reminder that tending to your roots isn’t about perfection - it’s about intentionality.

Resources Mentioned:

  • Mutual Aid & Support: Check with your local immigration groups or school "Safe Passage" programs.
  • Journaling Tools: Look for guided journals by Grit Journals, Cassandra Wild, or Neurospicy & Co.

My Closing Intention: "My intention this week is to let my journal be a safe place for my truth, however loud or quiet I need it to be."
