In this episode, Loudoun County Magazine host Jessica Monte speaks with Sam Anthony Lucania, a mental health and wellness speaker and author. In his book, Hands like You're Praying, Lucania tells the story of his battle with addiction to drugs and alcohol. He also shares his story of achieving recovery. Since publishing his book in 2018, Lucania has spoken at a number of high schools, worship centers and universities in Northern Virginia. Lucania's interview brings to the forefront the prevalence of substance abuse in the U.S. is as well as the taboo that accompanies a discussion of mental health care issues.
