Hey Guys! Welcome back to Lifing with Kasha! This podcast was created for us. In this episode, I will discuss the pressures we put on ourselves, the pressure the world puts on us, and the individual we currently are. Too often we pick apart pieces of ourselves we deemed worthy to showcase to others. But what happens to those pieces of ourselves that aren't ever displayed? Why don't we deem them worthy too. I think a lot of it correlates to the societal/cultural pressures and socially acceptable identity structures.
As I thought about the pressures of a having a beautiful sculpted identity, I'm reminded of the inspirational Maya Angelou. Specifically, A line in one of Ms. Angelou poems, The Caged Bird Sings, "“The caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things unknown but longed for still.” It got me thinking about me, who I currently am and "her," who I've always wanted to be. I think of "her" like she's the caged bird, always singing in the back, fearless, the epitome of who I've longed to be. She's making an appearance.
